Even More About Our Trip to BlogPaws

DSC_0282D

I told you about the trip down and our first day at BlogPaws. Since this newbie learned some important lessons the first day, I felt like the second day of the conference went smoother. I took Chester to daycare right after breakfast and left him the whole day. I packed lighter the second day. Little did I know that there would be a heck of a lot more stuff to pick up from vendors the … [Read more...]

A Little More About BlogPaws

IMAG0244F

In our last post about our trip to BlogPaws we mentioned that we road-tripped it down there, that we camped, that we met some of our bloggy friends and that we brought back some loot (like the Bret Michaels Pets Rock Tattoo Hoodie we are giving away). Let me tell you a little more about how our trip went down. I drove to our friend's house, It's a Weinerful Life, on Wednesday night. Thursday … [Read more...]

Not Just a Car Full of Weiners

DSC_0233C

You probably already noticed but we are going to call ourselves out. We weren't just traveling with a car full of weiner dogs on the way to the BlogPaws conference. The It's a Weinerful Life gang is actually made up of two weiner dogs and a Chihuahua named Luna. Now, I will admit that I used to dislike Chihuahuas. No special reason I guess, I just didn't like them. Over the years I have … [Read more...]

BlogPaws or Bust Was Anything But

IMAG0266

Whew! We made it back home from BlogPaws in one piece. It was an amazing trip. We met up with our local friends from It's a Weinerful Life and road tripped it down to Salt Lake City - making the entire 15-hour trip down in one day! The trip down was a lot of fun. We played the alphabet game (find each letter of the alphabet on signs or license plates), chatted and sang along to songs a … [Read more...]

BlogPaws 2012 or Bust

dsc_06501C

I was still pretty new to blogging in August last year. I heard about a cool conference called BlogPaws. BlogPaws is a conference for pet bloggers that brings you workshops and lectures on subjects that helps you be a better, more successful blogger. Last year the conference was on the east coast. I wanted to go so bad but there was no way I could spend thousands of dollars to fly there from … [Read more...]

Our Weekend Desert Adventure

DSC_0198F

This last weekend we decided to escape all the rain and gloom and head east of the mountains to the sunshine. We headed over to Eastern Washington to visit my friend in the desert town of Moses Lake (Yes, we have lush mountains, coast beaches and desert within a few hours of each other in our state). Getting over there was definitely an adventure. It was snowing heavily in the mountain passes … [Read more...]

Bellingham or Bust

Windsheild ViewC

In the winter we have to be more flexible. Our adventures don’t always work out. The weather can change radically from one hour to the next, making what we had planned too dangerous or miserable. Instead of being disappointed, we try to make the best of the situation. We have learned to appreciate that nature sometimes forces us to let go of our agenda and live in the moment. We take the … [Read more...]

Dog-Friendly Seaside, Oregon

dsc_0302FF

Seaside, Oregon was our second stop on our Adventureweiner bike tour. We found Seaside to be a bit more dog-friendly than Astoria. I saw a lot more dogs around town, on the beach and there were water bowls at more stores than not. When we arrived I was surprised to learn that apparently in Seaside they eat dogs…or at least they used to. Seaside was so named because it was a place where some … [Read more...]

Couch Surfing with Your Dog: How to Be a Good Houseguest

welcomemat_smallA

On our recent Oregon bike trip we stayed with a total stranger that generously opened his house to us. Before we arrived I told him we had two dogs along for the trip. Although he doesn’t have pets, he was completely fine with us bringing ours. I have spent all of Chester’s 9 years dragging him over the river and through the woods to the houses of family and friends. This week I saw a … [Read more...]

Adventureweiner Bike Tour Part II – Seaside to Cannon Beach to Astoria, Oregon

dsc_0412B

We took a bike trip from Astoria to Cannon Beach, OR and pulled Chester and Gretel along with us in doggie trailers. We told you about Part I of the trip yesterday which found us in Seaside. Our plan was to continue on to Cannon Beach, spend a couple of days there and then ride back to Astoria – a total of about 60 miles. Unlike the fairly flat ride from Astoria to Seaside, this stretch of … [Read more...]

Adventureweiner Bike Tour Part I – Astoria to Seaside, Oregon

dsc_0138B

I know a lot of you were anxiously waiting to hear about the cycling trip we took. I want to thank you for being patient. We had a lot to do when we got back and I had a lot to write about. For those of you who don’t know, a couple of weeks ago we took the dogs on a cycling tour of the North Oregon Coast. It was only the second time they had ridden in their doggie trailers and the first … [Read more...]
