Fifteen Reasons…..

Wondering where we have been lately? I haven’t written regularly because I have been super busy, not because we have had nothing going on. I wanted to go back and write about all of the things we have been up to but, in reality, it ain’t gonna happen. Instead I opted for sharing what we have done in a  list and moving on.

This is what our life has looked like over the past few months:

  • Took a dog-friendly cruise to a local island for some beach combing and a salmon feast.
  • Went the Go, Dog, Go! canine festival.
  • Finally got my Grandparent’s house on the market
  • Held a weiner dog walk for the Adventureweiner Club of Seattle
  • Got married. Chester and Gretel were the ring bearers by the way :)
  • Took a three-week European honeymoon. We saw a lot of weiner dogs in Italy and actually saw two out hiking on the trail (the only hiking dogs we saw on the whole trip). I heard about Obie the obese Dachshund for the first time while surfing Facebook in the red light district in Amsterdam.
  • Held another weiner dog walk for the club

  • Watched two Dachshunds
  • Watched two more Dachshunds for a total of a 6 pack! Crazy by the way….and yes, they all slept in the bed with us. I give props to those of you with that many dogs.
  • Tried to go on one final overnight backpacking trip of the year solo with Chester and Gretel. Failed.
  • Started my certificate program – social media implementation and technologies – to take my social media and blogging skills to the next level.
  • Took pictures of dogs in Halloween costumes for charity
  • Found out about the custody battle over Obie the obese Dachshund. It was launched by a the local rescue who was initially contact for help against the woman fostering Obie and helping him to lose weight.
  • Attended the BarkWorld Expo – the National social media conference for the pet industry.
  • Toured the world’s largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium, before I headed home from BarkWorld.

I thought about going back and writing all of the posts that I have been formulating in my mind but it would take me too long to go back and write about them all.  However, I will elaborate on one or two things. What do you want to hear about most?

  1. Married? Whoo hoo congrats! Mom says whenever they go somewhere without us they ALWAYS see a GSD and that makes them wish I was there…that just means they should take us puppers everywhere!

Yeah, we were trying not to think about Chester and Gretel because me missed them so much. We seemed to be surrounded by Dachshunds though at some points so it wasn’t so easy :)

  2. Goodness, you’re a busy busy girl. Looks like you have had fun though.

    • AdventureJess says:

Busy, busy bee. That is me. Now that things have calmed down a tad though, or at least let me be in one place for more than a few hours, I need to carve out time specifically for blogging again.

  3. Good to hear from you! Life is busy, but sounds good for you!

  4. Tara Hart says:

I hadn’t heard about the custody battle for Obie. That makes me sad! Do you have a link to that story? I did see he had lost some weight.

    • AdventureJess says:

Hi Tara. I am going to try and do a recap of the story from beginning to current. If you go to the Facebook page for Biggest Loser Doxie Edition there are a couple of links to news articles there.

  5. Congratulations, again, on getting married. We have been wondering how your European honeymoon went and where you went hiking! It’s so neat you saw doxies on the trail in Italy — do you know they are called “bassotto” in Italian?!

I do know. Someone told me that while we were on our trip and posted a photo of a Dachshund. I wasn’t sure if people wanted to hear about our honeymoon since Chester and Gretel weren’t there. We did have some good adventures that are worth sharing though.

  6. Congratulations on getting married and love the pic of the gang of six. Great pup-date. Have a fabulous Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

It was crazy having that many at my house at once. This was the best picture of the series and I know I took well over 50! :)

  7. Tell us about your wedding and could you show us some pictures of the dachsie ring bearers??? So sweet. My dad is from Germany and he and my brother and his family just came back from there a month ago! Would love to hear more about your honeymoon in Europe too!
Oh, and congratulations!!! Kiss the puppies for us!

    • AdventureJess says:

It looks like that Chester and Gretel as ring bearers is winning out. Everyone wants to see pictures so I will post some as soon as I get them back from the photographer. That should be in a week or so. I will try to do a recap post of our honeymoon too. Chester and Gretel didn’t go but we had some great hiking adventures and saw a lot of Dachshunds.

  8. Welcome back! I LOVE the photo of the 6 doxies, and daydreamed a bit about having that many wieners in my bed ;) Must have been cozy!
Can’t wait to see pics and hear more!

Cozy is one word to describe it. Ha, ha. At any one moment there was one of them that wanted to play so it was hard to get any real sleep :)

  9. Sounds a great trip and me too, I can’t wait to see the pics in a week or too!

  10. Wow! You’ve been busy. I wish I had similar reasons for not writing to my blog, but it mostly has to do with being busy at my day job :(

  11. That’s right! How did your Halloween charity photoshoot go? This was your first time “showing off” your skills? I take it this year was too busy to get costumes for Chester and Gretel? :)

    • AdventureJess says:

I don’t usually dress them up anyway but I certainly didn’t have time this year. The photo shoot went OK. My camera and gear isn’t good enough to get professional looking photos. It was acceptable for charity donations though :)

  12. Oh I would love to see more pictures of the 6 Doxies! So sweet!

  13. Wow you have been busy but it sure sounds like lots of fun!

  14. Wow!!! What a busy, busy time you have had!! Congrats on your marriage!! Did you visit Bainbridge Island? I have a friend that lives there and she just adores it!!

    • AdventureJess says:

I great up right by Bainbridge Island and it is right across the water from Seattle. When I go to visit my family I take a ferry boat there. As with any place you grew up next to and visited often, it holds less charm than it might for someone who hasn’t been there. I usually just drive through but I did stop and get ice cream the other week :)

  15. October was such a nutty month for me as well. But in equally good ways. Despite all the fun excitement I am looking forward to a quiet November.

Congratulations on successfully living with 6 dogs! That is a huge accomplishment!

    • AdventureJess says:

Well, it’s been a nutty year for me. But, like you, November is shaping up to be a month of rest….finally.

  16. Wow how busy have you been!! Makes me feel all snoozey just reading about it!!

  17. De Cunningham @skye613 says:

Really enjoyed meeting you at Bark World. Whenever we leave the mini herd at home (5 mini Doxies ) we must always find some to give us our fix.

    • AdventureJess says:

It was great to meet you too. I love how my Doxie circle is growing. I don’t think I realized you had 5 at home! You probably said but I missed it, sorry.

  18. Congrats on your marriage!

Getting all 6 to look at me was a combination of luck and a lot of takes. Unfortunately, we didn’t get many pictures of the dogs in the wedding because they appeared only briefly. When I get the photos back from the photographer I will post some though :)
