The First Official Meetup of the Adventureweiner Club

Tuesday marked the first official meetup of the Adventureweiner Club of Seattle.

The evening walk around Greenlake went great and appears it will be our one permanent event.

I just love getting other weiner dog owners together to socialize and let our dogs play together. Having great spring weather helps too.

This group was smaller than the other walks I have organized. I do hope that our group will continue to grow but it was refreshing to have fewer people there this time. It was less stressful for me and I was able to actual talk to each person.

It turns out that one of the group members is a brand recognition specialist for Castor and Pollux Pet Works, a natural and organic premium quality line of natural specialty pet food, and she was nice enough to bring us some goodies.

She brought us a sample of their organic dog cookies, a coupon book and a fire rescue sticker so that the firefighters know that you have pets inside the house.

When I was a kid we had one of those stickers on our window. Actually we had about three! We had so many pets that they wouldn’t fit on one sticker.

I just thought those stickers were a fad of the 70’s and didn’t know you could still get them. I never tried to look though. Look…..one finally found ME 🙂

I shared the final Couch to Peak ™ beginning hiking program I designed with everyone. They thought it was really cool and they are excited about it so it looks like a go.

I am going to work today to get the series scheduled on the Adventureweiner Club of Seattle Meetup site.

While we were waiting for everyone to show up a man just happened onto our group. I didn’t recognize him but asked if he was here for the Meetup. He said he hadn’t even heard of us.

I invited him to join us for a walk around the lake. It turns out that he was dog sitting his son’s weiner dog Hobbs – a beautiful 9-month old brindle.

Steven was really friendly and chatted with several people along the walk. I love serendipitous events like that where you just randomly connect with cool people. I live for that stuff!

I finally got to be in my first group photo with Chester and Gretel because a friend of one of the members, who to my luck was a former photographer major, offered to take our photo.

Here we are in front of my favorite – a pink flowering cherry tree. Again, I love spring!

Chester and Gretel had a great time as usual.

They got to play with all of their doggie friends like Swift, Kool and Sienna. They loved meeting all of the new doggies too…..and of course the treats from Castor and Pollux 🙂

  1. Lovely photos – I’m so jealous of your still-cool-enough-for-a-jacket weather! It’s been sweltering here in South Texas.

Congratulations on your ongoing club success! I have a feeling it’ll keep growing and growing…and growing. 🙂 Happy Friday!

    1. Jealous? I would rather not have to wear my jacket…or pants…well, shorts yes, pants no 🙂

Thanks for the congratulations. Looks like there is a slight chance we might get in the paper again. It turs out Hobb’s Grandpa works for a local paper and would like to feature us.

  2. Those are great pictures and what a great story. You started a fun group. People and dogs both will benefit.

    1. Thanks. It has been a lot of fun and Chester and Gretel love that I am not constantly dragging them on long, rainy hikes 🙂 Although there are plenty of hikes in our near future.

  3. Congrats on your club’s growing success! I love the pictures … makes me want to get a Doxie (and my dogs keep whispering in my ear while I sleep, “We need a wiener dog …”) haha!

  4. Ah, look at all the Weiners – that walk sure looks like lots of fun meeting new Doggy and human friends! 🙂

    Have a great weekend,

    Snoopy 🙂

  5. Thanks for letting me come and give everyone goodies, and of course being part of your weiner parade!

  6. Hi our names are Lucky and Daisy. We are 10 year old weiner dog sisters, and we are looking for a new family to love us. Our family is moving to Australia and we cannot go with them. We love cuddling, walks,
other dogs and cats, car and boat rides. You name it, we like to do it!
We have lots of love to give. Do you know if anyone in your club can help us?
Call or email our mom, Jennifer, if you can give us a home. 425-417-0152 or galb@comcast.net
