Like our friend Crusoe, our star is rising. We are getting better known around these parts. We are being talked about all over town and people are starting to recognize us.
The owner of Health Mutt emailed me to tell me about a guy that came into the store the other day. He showed her a picture of his two gorgeous Doxies. She asked him “have your heard of the Weiner Adventure group?”
He then proceeded to show her a picture of our whole gang at Greenlake.
She remarked what a small world it was and said “We talked about Gretel and Chester… Anyway, apparently he had “heard” of you guys already!”
A few weeks ago when S was at work at the bike shop, he heard a guy talking about our Club. He said his girlfriend had come home giddy because she saw a huge parade of Dachshunds walking around Greenlake.
S told him that I was the one that organized that group. More proof of a small world.
When we were walking around Greenlake in the snow the other day, a guy stopped us and asked us if he had seen us on the MyGreenlake Storify page (scroll down and you will see us) yesterday. I had taken a picture of Chester, Gretel and snow and uploaded it to the MyGreenlake twitter feed. Apparently they had posted the photo to their Storify feed. It made enough of an impression on him that he recognized Chester and Gretel as we walked by.
While we were walking we also heard a couple talking about us…or at least our Adventureweiner Club. As they walked toward us the woman looked at Chester and Gretel and commented how cute they were. Then she started telling her dude about the big weiner dog walk that happened last month. I didn’t say anything about being the organizer but secretly smiled.
When I see other weiner dog owners I tell them about the Adventureweiner Club and give them a play date card. In the past, people sound surprised to hear that a club like this exists. More and more when I talk to people they say that they have heard of our club or their friends mentioned seeing us around Greenlake.
I suppose Chester and Gretel are hard to miss. I take Chester and Gretel out and about all of the time. Gretel draws attention because of her unique coloring. Chester draws attention because he is so friendly. They both do because people think they are so darn cute and are in really good shape.
Our club is impossible to miss. We walk around Greenlake monthly and no one has seen 40+ weiner dogs in one place at the same time (including me prior to starting this club).
The more people know us, the more awareness it brings to small dogs and the fact that they can be adventurous and active too. Yay.
