The Wazoo Survival Gear Adventure Bracelet Review

Wazoo Survival Gear Adventure Bracelet - a survival kit you wear on your wristI never was a girl scout.  I like to be prepared for anything though. My “always prepared” motto is front-of-mind when I go for day hikes. I like to bring enough stuff with me that I feel confident I could survive a night in the wilderness in case something went wrong.

“Emergency” items I bring on hikes usually include a small first aid kit, a fresh pair of socks (that can also double as mittens), a hat, a headlamp, a light jacket, and extra food and water.

I do realize that, while those things may help me survive, those things aren’t a “survival kit”. This year, since I have been doing more solo hiking, I think I owe it to myself, my hubby, and my family to bring a REAL survival kit along.

My desire to be safer is balanced with my desire to not carry a lot of crap that adds weight to my pack. Hiking the really steep Mailbox Peak Trail made me conscious of every extra ounce.

I found my perfect solution the other day when I discovered the Wazoo Survival Gear Adventure Bracelet. The gang over there was kind enough to send me one in exchange for my honest review.

At first glance it looks like one of those paracord bracelets that have become popular over the last few years. I never got how one line of string on steroids could provide what you need to survive.

The Wazoo Survival Gear Adventure Bracelet may look like your average paracord bracelet at first glance but its not even in the same category. It’s a a survival toolbox you can wear on your wrist.

Inside the paracord bracelet are 16 or more components (depending on  the options you choose) that will help you overcome life-threatening situations.

What’s Inside

You have to watch this video to really get how cool it is though

My Thoughts

Because of all of the survival stuff inside the bracelet, it is a little stiff. I have worn it for a couple of days straight hoping it would soften up. It hasn’t but it’s not uncomfortable. I forget it is there for the most part.

It was fun customizing my bracelet. When you order, you get to choose the colors of paracord they use to weave the bracelet. I also asked for the handcuff key just for the fun of it.

This bracelet will make me more prepared for emergencies than I every was before. When I wear it I feel like survivalist Bear Grylls…although I no doubt have more gadgets to help me out than he ever does.

I’m excited that I can wear a survival kit on my wrist instead of stuffing more bulky, heavy things into my pack. When I go on longer hikes, and there is a risk of getting stuck out in the woods for days, I will bring an additional survival kit. I plan to wear this bracelet on all of my hikes from now on though.

Another cool thing is that they sent me this really nice note with my bracelet and said they have a survival collar for dogs in the works! I can’t wait to check it out.

    1. Houndstooth, We actually spent last week up at at the National SAR conference in New Jersey and had a booth set up there. Most of our employees are SAR personnel.

      1. Hey, thanks for stopping by guys! I saw photos of booths you had at different events on your Facebook page. I did see one at a SAR congerence I think.

  1. Your article failed to mention the ‘considerable’ cost of the WAZOO, which in my opinion, makes it out of reach for most adventurers.

    1. Thanks for your comment. I disagree that the cost is out of reach for “most adventurers”. While it is true that the cost is too high for some, the adventures I know don’t have issue buying a $300 tent, $200 jacket or a $3,000 mountain bike.
