We Partied Down Yesterday

Yesterday was our Adventureweiner friend Amber’s 6th Birthday.

We started the day at 5 am because we planned to hike out to glass beach in Port Townsend. We didn’t end up going. There were to many things against us. I was exhausted, I wasn’t sure how our guest Clancy would do hiking in the rain and I was afraid we might not make it to the birthday party on time.

We drove almost all of the way there from Sequim but I turned around and headed for the ferry. Getting home early gave me time to take a nap and pick up a present for Amber.

We headed to the party at Dmarie’s in Edmonds. We were actually the first ones to get there. We settled in, help set up and waited for our friend’s to arrive.

As the Doxies started to come in I realized that this wasn’t going to work for Clancy. He had a scuffle with one of the dogs and got in a real fight with another. I had to put him in the car for the party but it was safe because it is only about 60 here in Seattle and there was no sun.

All of the guests got little Happy Birthday doggie bandanas to wear.

There were a lot of puzzle games to play with. Gretel is fanatical about food so she figured them out pretty quick. Chester found a more unconventional way to get the treats out. He picked up the whole toy and dropped it on the ground – causing all of the little cups to fall out.

After playtime Amber ate her cake and opened her presents.

All of the other doggies got a cake piece and a goody bag. Chester decided to wrestle me for his.

We had a lot of fun and appreciate that Amber invited us to be part of her celebration. Chester and Gretel had a great time and slept for hours afterward.

  1. Such cute pictures, don’t you love that lens, I love the one of Gretel with the scarf. Looks like a great time.

The lens has improved things. Indoors it is the only lens I have that lets in enough light. It limits me because it doesn’t “see” as much. The plus side though is that when you have a room full of people taking pictures, mine are a little different because I am forced to take them close up.

  2. I laughed so hard at that picture of Gretel! Priceless. Haha, Chester’s such a smart boy! I gave Nola that same toy a few months ago, and she chewed through the cups (this was while I was talking to my neighbor for 10 minutes)

I thought of getting one for ourselves but I am afraid it would suffer the same fate as the one Nola got a hold of :)

  3. Canine birthday parties are a lot of fun! I wish we knew enough dogs around here who would participate to have one at our house.

This was the first one we had been too. At first I thought it was kind of silly but ended up having a great time. I was friends with everyone there and the dozen weiners put on quite a show :)

  4. Looks like everyone had a great time. And it looks like no one missed the long hike with all the other fun things happening.

That was actually the first doggie birthday party I had ever been to. I often get together with that group for other events though.

  8. Awww…what a nice birthday party! Good job with the puzzle you two. I get similar toys for Stetson to try and slow down his eating.

    Happy Monday!

  12. What lens are you using? and camera?

    Priceless photo!

    • AdventureJess says:

I use a Nikon D80. The lens I was using here is a 50mm f1.8. Using that lens has taken some adjustment but I know my doggie portrait shots have improved.
