Last Saturday we went on a 3-mile Adventureweiner Greenlake walk and 2-hour urban hike around Discovery Park. We were a little tired so we took it easy on Sunday. There was a local coffee shop with a dog lounge next door, Bark Espresso, I had been wanting to check out. S also needed his coffee fix for the morning so we decided to head on over and check it out.
The real reason I wanted to go to Bark Espresso was because I had a guest post to write for Coffee with a Canine. The idea behind the guest post is that you answer some questions over coffee with your dog. I only drink coffee as a treat so I don’t have any sitting around the house. I needed to go somewhere that had coffee and also allowed dogs (indoors, because it is frigid out this time of year).
When we arrived, there were two people sitting at a small table. Imagine our surprise when we saw that one of them had a miniature Dachshund! After we did the obligatory sorry-that-my-dog-keeps-bothering-you, a-stranger-for-treats-and-pets-and-doesn’t-acknowledge-your-boundaries dance we got comfortable.
We started chatting and learned the other Doxie’s name was Gigi.
All of a sudden, Chester, Gretel and Gigi ran to the door barking like crazy. As I went to scoop them up I saw someone walking up the porch. I caught a glimpse of another Doxie underneath the window shades. My first thought was that it looked like one of our Adventureweiner friends Bambi. For a second I thought that it would be funny if Bambi’s family showed up.
I opened the door and guess what? It was them! It turns out that they saw our post on Facebook saying we were going to Bark Espresso so they decided to drive up and check it out – hoping to catch us before they left. Their two Doxies, Bambi and Yogi, brought the group total to 5.
As you can imagine, things got a little crazy for a while. The dogs were running around wrestling and playing everywhere – up on the couch, back on the floor, on the chair, on the back of the couch, in faces and in pockets, it was so much fun!
Eventually things calmed down a little and I was able to finish my guest blog post…and my Mocha.
Afterwards we went to a local City park for a short urban hike. I had never been there but Gretel’s BFF Sienna goes there all of the time. Her Mom just raves about the place so I thought we better check it out. We spent about an hour strolling the trails.
On the way back to the house we stopped at the Health Mutt, the new pet store I had been looking at for a few weeks. We were getting low on treats and supplies so I picked up some of our favorite Zuke’s treats, some poo bags and two huge baked knuckle bones for Chester and Gretel. The store owner was super nice and just loved Chester and Gretel.
I spent the evening on the couch with the dogs and S writing blog posts about all of our adventures that weekend and processing the 1,000 plus photos I took. As a matter of fact, I am still trying to catch up 🙂
It was one of the best non-hiking weekends I have had with the dogs in a long time.
Do you have any exciting plans for this upcoming weekend?
