This past weekend we took a road trip across the Canadian border to Squamish, BC. This was our 4th trip across the border with Chester and Gretel and we had a really easy time crossing again.
We drove up there so Doggy Daddy and his friends could ride in a mountain bike race. While the boys were racing, I played tourist with Chester and Gretel.
We wandered around town and found our way to the beach. In case you can’t tell, it was really windy.
We hiked the dog friendly trail to Lower Shannon Falls. The place was crawling with tour groups but we took the side trail to the left and found a lookout where we could enjoy the falls in solitude.
It was really cool staying at the base of this huge rock – Stawamus Chief – for the weekend.

My old ‘hood!!! (I grew up in Lions Bay… Squamish was “the big town to the North!”) Crossing the border with the dogs from New York into Ontario was so easy for us last year, we need to cross closer to home sometime soon!

I didn’t know you were Canadian. No wonder you are so nice π
My hubby has a friend in Squamish and used to go up there all of the time to play with the boys. You know how things change once you’re not a single person anymore. We’ve only been up there once (well, twice now) in the last 5 years. We hope to go up more so we will become expert doggy border crossers.

his is a big hiking weekend for us too. I’m taking Chester and Gretel hiking today and then we are going on an overnight backpacking trip on Sunday.

B.C huh? That is definitely a beautiful place! I am in Ontario, but my brother lived in B.C for quite a while.
No travel plans here. We don’t do much of that. I think we plan on having a super clean, de-clutter the house sort of weekend!| *sigh* BOL!

I’ve never been to Ontario. What is it like there? Is it more like Western Washington (wooded, mountains and green) or more like Oklahoma (flat, dry farmland)?
Having a clean house is refreshing like a vacation π

Canada has the most beautiful places for outdoor activities. This is a really good example; beyond beautiful. Really loved all your pictures, specially the one with the amazing waterfall in the background. Thank you for sharing such an exciting adventure.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed them. I feel kind of a like a cheat though because all you have to do is point and shoot when the scenery is so beautiful – feel like there is not much skill involved.

Great picture of the falls. Poor Chester’s ears – look like he was ready to take off.

So beautiful. We’d love to hike up there, so different from our neck of the woods! Speaking of, we’re planning a hike for this Sunday in north Georgia. We should get a good waterfall view too! Happy weekend!

What a great trip! Love the flying Doxie’s! Mom is planning a trip next year with her best friend. They are going to fly to Seattle than drive to Vancouver. I don’t think I get to come, oh no! Love Dolly

That looks like a fantastic place to hike! I have envy. Our plans are a little muted this weekend because hubby has a SAR demo to do tomorrow morning and it’s gotten really hot really quickly here. The dogs are still trying to adapt to the rapid change in temp and so are we. So, the Greyhounds are meeting a friend for ice cream Saturday night and then we’ll see if Sunday brings anything our way or we stay inside to beat the heat. lol
Jessica Rhae says
We’re supposed to have warm weather here this weekend but probably not as hot as where you are (70s here). Hubby and I are taking Chester and Gretel on an overnight backpacking trip Sunday. It sounds like your weekend is going to be pretty relaxing. Enjoy the ice cream!
