Besides hiking and traveling, we like to enjoy the good life around here. One of the “good life” things we enjoy is trying out new dog goody subscription boxes. It’s an extra special treat when we get to try a particular box more than once.
I like to experience each box over several months so I can more accurately rate it during our annual dog subscription box comparison. Chester and Gretel like getting new toys to play with, and new treats to taste, every month. This month we were given the opportunity to try the Pooch Perks subscription box again.
One of the biggest things that makes the Pooch Perks box stand out from other subscription boxes was recently made more relevant after the news of two dogs getting injured by a toy. These incidents left pet parents asking, “How do we find safe toys for our dogs?” Well, Pooch Perks can help. One of the coolest things about this box is that the toys inside are held to the same rigorous standards as childrenβs toys. The safety standards for children’s toys is a long, complicated legal document but it talks about things like testing for lead in paint, choking hazards, and other hazards that can harm and injure.
Each Pooch Perks box includes a mix of fun toys, healthy made in the USA treats, and other exciting goodies. The focus is on treats that are predominately organic, grain free, and with no added preservatives, fillers, or artificial colors.
Since I already wrote a review of a Pooch Perks box, I wanted to do something different this time. I tried filming an unboxing video showing me opening our package for the first time. You can tell I am kind of nervous in front on the camera but watching Chester try and thwart my efforts is funny.
You can watch his shenanigans here:
You can win a chance to film your own Pooch Perks unboxing video! Ok, you don’t have to film your own video if you don’t want – it’s not a requirement of winning or anything – but you can win your pup their very own box to try. If you do win though, I would love to see you share a photo or quick video of your pup and the box on our Facebook page.
Anyway, so how do you win a box? Just complete the one mandatory entry in the Rafflecopter widget below. Once you complete the mandatory entry, you will get two additional chances to enter. You can use the Twitter option to enter once a day.
The contest is open to US residents 18 or older and runs now through 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday 8/30. The winner will be announced on our Facebook page on Monday. Good luck!

It’s a good thing my dogs don’t know what they are missing. Otherwise they would probably steal my credit card and make sure something showed up every month.

I am pretty sure I love getting mail – especially “unknown mail” – more than they do. They sure like it a lot though. Chester would tear open the box himself if I let him π

What a good little helper Chester is! He made my day! π
Love the video! It’s a great spin on the typical box review! Thanks for sharing!
Jessica Rhae says
I will tell him π He’s such a funny old man too – not a lot of expression on his face but clearly just like “gimmie that!”
Hailey and Zaphod says
Oh Chester! Enjoy your box!
Lara Elizabeth says
I seriously can’t get enough Chester, and seeing him make off with the items reminded me of his Denver pizza thievery π
Jessica Rhae says
He is a sneak for sure! Well, except he doesn’t try to hide it… so I guess it’s not “sneaky” π
Bell Fur Zoo says
Matt would so be doing the same thing as Chester. He likes to steal stuff π

Tenacious Little Terrier says
Oh Chester! It’s cool that they have rigorous standards for toys.Mr. N is not big on toys but I can see how it could be a problem with hardcore toy players!
Jessica Rhae says
He doesn’t like any toys?
Emma says
I could never get Mom to be in a video, so I guess it would be up to me to open the box and that could end in disaster! Great idea for a different review!
Jessica Rhae says
Video is not my strong sit either but it helped to know people were probably going to be paying more attention to Chester than me π

I live in Dayton, Ohio were the Lindy &Company treats are made. Daybreak is a nonprofit that helps youth who are are the streets. My two doxies and one bassett really like their products.
Jessica Rhae says
That’s great. I am not sure I’ve heard of Daybreak before but I’ve heard of similar programs – ones that make things for dogs but also help people. I know there is an organization that helps employ blind people by teaching them how to make dog toys.

Super great that they’re so diligent about the contents of the box! Mort certainly concurs about all soft toys must be suitably destroyed eventually π (I loved how once he carried around a huge soft ball for about 5 days and I thought “finally! A toy he won’t destroy!”… until day 6.)
Jessica Rhae says
Yeah, the “successful” soft toys still only last days. There have been a few I found that last a really long time though. The Simply Fido toys, although they get some serious mouth love, are still around in various degrees of “injury” for months or more. I swear it must be the organic cotton.
