Dog Subscription Goody Box Review: PupJoy

We’re on a mission to try every dog subscription box available.

We recently got the opportunity to try the new PupJoy subscription box.

As more and more subscription boxes flood the market, a few are truly trying to stand out from the rest. PupJoy is one of them.

Nowadays it’s almost standard for companies to give a portion of profits to charities. Usually it’s nominal 5-10 percent.

PupJoy strives to give more and have more of an impact.

The company gives up to 50% of the profits to support their programs.

PupJoy sends free Care Boxes to dog parents who are undergoing treatments for adolescent & young adult (AYA) breast cancer and are severely limited in their means to care for their loyal pups.

PupJoy also gives select, inspirational organizations a “High $5” for all that they do by donating $5 each time a customer uses an organization-specific coupon code.

That’s not the only thing that stands out about PupJoy though.

They focus on filling their highly customizable boxes with clearly-labeled healthy dog treats, unique well-crafted toys, and artisan accessories that are sourced from small suppliers who are focused on creating quality, responsible products.

About PupJoy

The reason the founder of PupJoy started the company is a very personal one.

His sister, in the prime of her young adulthood, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

It was both unimaginably scary and inspiring as he witnessed her dire struggles and unending resilience.

His sister’s dog offered her emotional support and comfort during her fight with cancer.

That experience forced him to reassess what mattered most, and compelled him to do something that he felt was important.

That thing was providing people with a better way to conveniently pamper their dog.

Why do dogs matter? Simply, dogs give us their best. Always. And we want the best for them.

They are our family. They make our lives better and they can bring out the best in us.

They bring us happiness and laughter through our best days and they’re an unwavering source of comfort and support through our worst.

Inside the Box

Chester Box

Our box contained 1 toy, 2 packages of treats, a collar, and a leash.

Jolly Pets Jolly Bone

This bone for tough chewers is flexible, floaty, and bouncy.

The bone can be stretched, twisted, chewed, tugged and bounced but continually returns to its original shape.

Sweat Pea Kitchens Peanut Butter and Blueberry Treats

These natural treats are baked by hand in small batches and are chemical and preservative-free.

After each batch is baked, they are dehydrated for added freshness and crunchiness.

Each treat is only 3 calories.

Kim’s Barkery Cranberry Oatmeal Cookie Dog Treats

These all-natural, gourmet dog cookies are enhanced by the antioxidant properties of cranberry.

Cranberries support your dog’s immune system, promote digestive and urinary tract health, and help protect against the effects of our polluted environment.

Bait Free Quick-release Collar and Leash Set

Bait Free offers high quality dog collars, leashes and apparel that support its mission.

Bait Free aims to spread awareness about the use of bait dogs and other survivors of dog fighting.

Over 20% of the proceeds for each sale are donated to animal rescue organizations that medically support those dogs that are lucky enough to be rescued.

What Did I Think of the PupJoy Subscription Box?

I was happy with the PupJoy box.

Knowing that they have a generous giving program and support small companies made me feel good just unpacking the box.

Seeing that the included leash and collar set was a product that supports a good cause was icing on the cake.

I really liked the blue dog faces on the Bait Free leash and collar.

The collar is a tad wide for my Dachshunds, and they rarely wear collars, but I am keeping it so I have something to mount one of those fancy dog fitness trackers to when I get one (which require a more substantial collar to support).

The peanut butter and blueberry treats impressed me because they were low calorie for the size.

I usually give Chester and Gretel chewy treats so crunchy ones are a special thing around here.

The treats are definitely keepers.

The little cranberry oatmeal cookies were awesome.

They looked so good, I almost wanted to eat one myself.

Chester Gimmie the Cookie

The Jolly Bone toy is the only thing we are donating.

*I* really like it but my Dachshunds aren’t interested in playing with those kinds of toys.

I never expect everything that comes in subscription boxes to be a hit.

Overall, the PupJoy subscription Box rated better than average for us as far as the quality of items in the box. It definitely brought joy to our house.

  1. Now that sounds like a great box! The treats look fabulous, getting a leash and collar…wow! And then the awesome donations by the company make you feel like you are helping too! Great review.

    1. Thanks. I have enjoyed exploring all of the gift boxes that we have so far but this one definitely goes at the top of my list. It’s kind of nice to see pet subscription boxes evolving. The market is so saturated with them and none of them were really standing out to me. The past couple I have reviewed have had something special about them that makes them just a little different.

  2. What a nice box of goodies! I had the same thought about the cranberry treat – it looks like it would go well with a cup of tea!

  3. Thanks for reviewing these subscription boxes, Jessica. I have tried to make a decision on a good box from a subscription site which included 37 different offerings! PupJoy had not yet been reviewed. Love the sound of the box contents (especially artisan pieces) as well as the great cause support.
