February is National Pet Dental Health Month. Did you know that over 80 percent of dogs show signs of dental disease by three years of age? Did you also know that only 2% of pet lovers brush their pet’s teeth daily? (source: Pet Dental Month: Hip or Hype?). That means there are a whole lot of stinky dog mouths out there.
I have already admitted that I don’t brush my dogs teeth so you know I am not in that 2%. However, I don’t want to do absolutely nothing. One of the things I do to help keep Chester and Gretel’s teeth clean and breath fresh is give them a dental chew before they go to bed or as a treat when I have to put them in their crates (I have watched them eat many, many dental chews and feel safe leaving them unattended with the ones we use but it’s always best to supervise your dog with any kind of chew).
Dental chews are an easy way for me to make sure I am doing something to improve their dental health on a daily basis.
It’s important to me for any dental chews I give Chester and Gretel to be made of natural ingredients and be easily digestible. It’s also very important to me that they are low in calories and sugars. While Chester and Gretel think the chews are treats, I don’t want them to be junk.
One of my favorite dental chews to give Chester and Gretel are WHIMZEESTM . I love them because they contain only six natural ingredients and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. They also don’t contain any GMOs, gluten, or grain and are high in fiber and low in calories and sugars. Chester and Gretel think they are really tasty too.
WHIMZEES is a fun, eco-conscious company that loves dogs, loves dog-owners, and loves making both of them happy. These aren’t your typical dog chews. The dental chews come in various sizes and unique shapes, including alligators and hedgehogs!
I would reeeely like to watch Chester and Gretel gnaw on Herman but, unfortunately, the hedgehogs are only made in sizes for larger dogs. Chester and Gretel get the small sticks or tooth brushes. The only pet store near me that carries a large range of shapes and sizes of WHIMZEES is Petsmart® . I know I can always find the right dental chew for Chester and Gretel on the shelf next to the dog treats.
If you don’t have a Petsmart nearby, you can purchase WHIMZEES dental chews for your own pup here.
