Dog Camping Gear: 10 Must-Have Items for Your Next Adventure
I also compiled the list for this year.
It’s a combination of old-time favorites and new discoveries that make me wonder where the item has been all my life.
Note: some of the links below are affiliate links. This means when you click on a link and make a purchase, I will receive a few pennies at no extra cost to you. Some of the products have been provided to me to review and share with you, and others I have purchased on my own. No matter how I found the item, I only recommend things we think are really great.
For the Adventure Dog
Carlson Pet Products Dog Cot – The cot is great for camping because it turns bumpy or rocky surfaces into a “flat” surface for your dog to lay on. It also elevates them off the hard ground. The small one is light enough to carry backpacking if you don’t mind carrying a little extra weight.
Rumpl Puffy Blanket – The junior size is perfect for really small dogs, or you can purchase the regular size throw for larger dogs or dogs that like to burrow. It’s resistant to dirt, pet hair, water, odor, dirt, and other debris, so you don’t have to worry about washing it constantly.
PawFlex Bandages – Wrapping your dog’s furry leg up when they get hurt can be challenging, but these bandages make it easy to keep certain body parts covered up as they heal. There are special sizes and shapes for paws, joints, and legs. They are a great addition to any dog-friendly first aid kit.
Teckelclub Dog Jacket – The Pinnacle Winter Dog Supercoat is reflective and waterproof, making it a smart choice for rainy or dark walks with your dog. They also have the lighweight Fuzzie Fleece and thicker, warmer Bunnyhug Fleece Hoodie. Teckelklub jackets are made to fit Dachshunds very well (but can fit dogs of all sizes). They are especially good for dogs with hard to fit shapes like those with deep chests and skinny waists like Greyhounds.
For Any Dog
BarkBox – Dogs will love this monthly box subscription that comes with two all-natural bags of treats, two toys, and a chew. Every month has a new, unique theme to it. You can sign up for one month, six months, or a year (but note that if you get this as a gift for someone, they need to cancel so they don’t keep getting charged).
Carlson Pet Products Pet Gate – Gates are great for keeping dogs out of the kitchen for the holidays as well as separating pets from rooms they shouldn’t go into. The gate can install in a doorway and has a walk-through door, but there is also a freestanding gate for larger doorways or hallways. It’s short enough that you can easily step over it and made of chew-proof material so you don’t have to worry about your pup destroying the gate.
Sleepypod Yummy Travel Bowl – You’ll want this spill-proof water bowl for traveling in the car or to use on carpet. The food bowl goes into the water bowl to make sure it doesn’t leak, and there’s a lid that can be both an extra dish and a way to seal the food and water so it doesn’t spill during transport. It’s a mess-free way to make sure your dog stays fed and hydrated when you travel.
Zuke’s Dog Treats – Zuke’s has been a favorite of ours for 10 years and is the treat brand I buy most often. My favorites are Tiny Naturals for the dog that needs to watch their waistline or for training treats. I also love the Mini Naturals and Zuke’s PureNZ Cords for when the treats need to be bigger for them to focus on when I’m taking photographs from a distance away (they can be broken into smaller pieces as well).
For Active Dog Lovers
Hoka ORA Recovery Slide – When your dog is active and needs exercise, you get a workout too. After a long hike, there’s nothing better than resting your feet with these soft but supportive sandals. They have both women’s and men’s sandals available, so your whole family can relax. For another, cheaper option, check out this recovery sandal with massage foot bed.
Cairn Subscription Box – Outdoor lovers will enjoy getting this active-themed gift box every month. They’ll receive everything from outdoor apparel to gear to emergency supplies. You can buy this as a gift for one month to a full year.
Vintage Camping Print Leggings for Women – These leggings are great for hiking or sitting around camp. They’re stretchy, soft, and come in the cutest print. If you want to show off your inner dog mom freak, you can also buy this matching dog bandana.
Patagonia Lightweight Black Hole™ Gear Tote – You’ll love this for throwing dog stuff in the car when you’re on the go. If anything gets wet after a hike, just throw it in this tote so you don’t have to worry about the rest of your car getting wet and dirty. You can even use it for groceries since it won’t get soggy and fall apart if you set it on the wet ground like a paper bag does.
For Dachshunds and Dachshund Lovers
Smoothie Store Personalized Dachshund Fleece Blanket – Keep your dog warm this winter with their own blanket. They have a variety of colors that are machine washable, made of 100% soft polyester fleece, and durable. There are several styles to choose from, including one for long-haired Dachshunds or a general paw print one.
Dachshund Pint Glass – If you love all things dachshunds, you’ll want to have these pint glasses in your kitchen. Enjoy your favorite beer or iced tea out of these glasses that have a cute dachshund painting on them. They can go in the dishwasher, but it’s recommended to hand wash them so the picture doesn’t fade.
Snoozer Scalloped Dog Ramp – It can be hard for dogs to get up on the couch, especially if they have joint issues. Use this dog ramp to keep them from jumping and protect their backs. You can throw the cover in the wash for those who shed often.
Emoji Latex Dog Toy With Squeaker – Gretel is obsessed with these and they are similar to the ones that Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund loves to play with. They’re only 2 inches in diameter, which means your small dog will easily be able to play with them. Squeakers are inside all of them, which will entertain your pup for hours.
Happy Shopping!

I love the leggings! Those wraps are cool, too.
