I announced last week on our Facebook Page that I realized life had gotten a little overwhelming here at the Adventureweiner household. Not to be a downer, but I got some bad family news this last weekend that was the final straw.
I gave it some hard thought and this community is important to me. Sharing our adventures and connecting with you all is part of what brings me most joy and keeps me going. I decided that I didn’t want to take a break with posting all together but for the next week or so we are going to depart from our regular routine and feature more pictures and less (even minimal) reading.
Maybe less reading will be a welcome change for you since my problem is usually trying to fit everything I want to share in less than 800 words. Maybe you will miss sharing our adventures and learning from us. Please stick with us through this rough time and I assure you things will get back to normal shortly.
On a happier note, we are taking advantage of this holiday weekend (It’s President’s Day for those of you outside of the US) by getting out of town. We aren’t going to a new town but we are visiting with new eyes this time. It’s an Eastern Washington desert town that many hiking folks would pass by without a thought but we decided to take a harder look at the place. We found what may be some good hiking trails we are gong to check out.
We are also planning a big hiking challenge this summer. I can’t tell you many details now because so much is up in the air for me right now personally and I am still trying to make the needed connections to make my vision a reality. I can tell you that it involves a lot of hiking and charity. I am really excited about it though so I will share it with you as soon as I know.
Now to get to the title of the post – “Lazer Light Frenzy”. Chester and Gretel go nuts when we bust out the lazer. Actually, we don’t even use a lazer anymore. We don’t have to. They go nuts every time they see a light shoot across the wall. It could be a reflection from our cell phone, my camera or whatever but they go totally nuts.
They start barking really fast and loud and jumping around. Below are some photos of the mayhem. You can see the tension in Gretel’s little body.
Does your dog like to chase the lazer beam?

We’ll be thinking of you and your family during this tough time. Keep taking good care of all your selves.

Elka loves chasing a laser! She doesn’t bark, though. And she starts pouncing around as soon as the knows that the laser is in-hand; the light doesn’t even have to be shining yet!
Roberta says
Love your posts but they wouldn’t be there if you weren’t so caring. Take your time, know you and your family are held in prayer; selfishly, this gives me a chance to look back at your posts before I began following :). Breathe….to quote my favorite mystic, Julian of Norwich, “all will be well.”

What great fun pictures! All the best to you and your family!

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jess. Kool and Swift aren’t fooled by the lazer. They ignore it and look at me like, “What are you doing?”

Thinking of you all! And lasers are the best toys .. great way to exercise the pups when it’s nasty out! Cute pics! π

Our thoughts will be with you. Let us know if you need anything! Actually we use the laser toy for Charlie…..to get his attention in the house. It works really well when we need him to come from a distance. LOLOL But of course Sally attacks it occasionally. LOLOL

Think of you and your family. We’ll really miss hearing about your adventures, but take all the time you need. We’ll still be here!

Family comes first. I wish you well. Eleanor loves the laser, it’s so great for getting her active in the winter when there is just too much ice and cold. Good for my giant cat too.

Sending you all big hugs – just take care of yourselves and we’ll all be here whenever you’re ready! π
And yep, I LOVE the laser too – it sends me crazy if I even just think they’re gonna get it out to play with!! π
Wags to all
Your pal Snoopy π

I really enjoy your posts and the pictures, and am sorry to hear you’ve had bad news. It is never easy when you hit a bump in the road of life, but I always remember the calm that comes after a bad storm, too. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. (P.S. a video of the pups chasing the light would be fun, hint hint for a future post)
AdventureJess says
Thanks. And I have thought about catching them on video but their barking is so loud and is magnified by our hardwood floors. I figure the video would be so annoying no one could stand to watch it. Ha, ha. I will consider it though π

I know how tough it is when family things crop up! I hope that life settles down for you soon. We thought about trying a laser with Kuster, but haven’t so far! lol
Bruce Sherman says
Jess, you shouldn’t worry about posting less for a while. It’s the natural way of things, and you have difficult family business. Take care of yourself and the pooches, which it certainly sounds like you are doing.
AdventureJess says
Thanks Bruce. I will definitely try to keep taking care of myself a priority too. I have been through some similar situations before but didn’t always have the life experience to know how to also make myself a priority.
Jet says
Hey Gretel, Hey Chester, Jet here. Mom and I hope your Mom takes the time and space she needs to nourish herself and take care of what she needs to. We’re new to the pet blogging community, however, we offer our support. Oh, Mom wanted me to remind you of the obvious… we K9s are therapeutic so remember to permit Gretel and Chester to do their intuitive pet therapy with their most treasured human, you!

Believe me…Chester has gotten me through a lot of tough times. Now I have to power of two weiner dogs to help me. I am going to need it!

I am so far behind that I haven’t had a chance to check FB much. Best wishes for you. Sorry to hear that you have received bad news.
Yes, my dogs will chase a laser. So will the cat. Makes for fun in our house….lol.
Nice pictures.
Leslie says
Sorry to hear you are facing such troubles. You will be in our thoughts as you take the time you need to care for yourself and those you love. We’ll be here upon your return.
Warm regards,
Leslie and Bella
PS – love the pictures. π

Our dog doesn’t chase the beam so much anymore. We do use her favorite Dog Toy for her to follow with her head back in forth. Our cat loves to chase the beam though. It is so much fun watching them. Gretelβs body looks so cute waiting for the beam. Great pictures as always.
I hope everything goes well. Can’t wait to see more pictures.

I have always seen cats go crazy for the lazer but didn’t know dogs liked it too until I got Chester.
Amy@GoPetFriendly says
No room to chase the laser in the Winnebago, and I hope things work out for the best on your end.
AdventureJess says
I am sure Ty and Buster think there is room…but I think a lot of chaos and broken stuff would come of it. Ha, ha.
