What is a blogroll you might ask?
In simple terms it is a list of other blogs we link to from ours. More specifically, our blogroll links to other blogs that we enjoy reading regularly and have a personal connection to.
So how do we decide to list a blog on our blogroll?
We follow a lot of blogs but only a select few make our blogroll list. First, we have to genuinely like them. It sounds like a no-brainer, I know, but some people put any old blog they follow on their blogroll. Not us.
We need to get value from their posts -for entertainment or information purposes. We have to like the look of the blog – not too cluttered, not plastered with more advertisements than content and no, or very few, pop-ups. We need to be genuinely inspired to comment on their blog posts and we have formed some kind of personal connection with the author. Lastly, in most cases, these bloggers have graciously agreed to share our blog link on their own blogroll.
Where can I find your blogroll?
Out blogroll is titled “Blogs We Like” and you can find it on our right sidebar below the “Archive” Category.
So who will I find on our blogroll?
Our blogroll is a dynamic list that is periodically updated as we discover blogs that we love. There are several blogs that we are keeping a close eye on but this is who has made our blogroll so far:
According to Gus – This family of two humans and one pekeapoo who are selling their house and soon embarking on a trip around the United States and Canada. Although they aren’t yet on the road, they have been blogging about her adventures with Gus, dog related products, dog-friendly dining and their preparations for their upcoming trip. Once on the move they will also post detailed trip summaries for dog-friendly destinations and accommodations. We love to travel ourselves and can’t wait to hear about Gus’s travels around the country! Secretly, we very are jealous.
The Daily Toki – A playful, bold rescue dog from sunny Venice, California. Toki spends her weekdays strolling the boutiques of Abbot Kinney and her weekends jumping off big rocks in the Sierras, playing on the beach and napping. This blog shares her adventures and always features great photographs. We are northwesterners that don’t happen to love the rain so we live vicariously through Toki.
Ammo the Dachshund– Ammo lives on a farm, helps run his mom’s business and is a sidekick to the talented trick ponies on the family farm. He shares his days roaming and playing on the farm, going to “work” at the shop and learning tricks. We love the City but wish we had room to roam like Ammo does!
Dog Jaunt – This Seattle-based world traveller that takes her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with her everywhere she goes. Here you will find detailed information about flying with your small dog on airplanes, international travel requirements for your dog, general tips on traveling with your dog and dog-friendly restaurants in Seattle. This will definitely be our go-to site if we ever fly with the dogs and will get our information here when we take Chester and Gretel to Canada to hike.
Roxy the Traveling Dog – This perky little Chihuahua lives in Utah with her artist parents. Her dad makes beautiful hand carved furniture and bronze sculpture. Her mom makes bison leather purses and does great beadwork. Roxy loves to travel around the country with her parents when they attend art shows or deliver their work to galleries. She also loves to hike and camp whenever she can. Roxy says, “You wouldn’t think so, but my little legs can hike for miles and miles”. We love that and we feel the same way!
Stuff on My Weiner –This blog posts a daily photo of a weiner dog with…you guessed it…stuff on it. You’ll find photos of weiner dogs in costumes, sweaters, under blankets or whatever the readers submit. The authors are parents to Penny, an 8 year old miniature dachshund. Penny loves to burrow under things and they always thought it was funny. They started this blog to share the silliness that is being a Doxie owner. It has since expanded to welcome photo submissions from all readers. We have submitted two of our photos already. Who doesn’t love a daily dose of weiner cute?
White and Black Dog – Our friend from my college Geology days. You will find hiking reports, amazing photos and sometimes the pondering of rocks. The blog was inspired by Jasper the Stout hiking K9, catcher of Frisbees and voracious eater. The author has a very witty sense of humor. We love him for that! We love reading and seeing the amazing places they go.
Life With Doxies – We met our friends Kool, Swift and their mamma through our Dachshund Meetup group. Here you will find fun stories about a day in the life of these two cuties and the adventures they go on. The author says “I love my dachshunds, and I can’t imagine my life without them”. We couldn’t agree more!
Daily Bailey – Bailey is a 3 year old Cocker Spaniel-Poodle mix. Bailey’s mom is an avid photographer who has taken on the challenge of Project 365 – a project that challenges you to take and share a photo a day. Each day you will find a stunning and super cute photo of Bailey and a great story to go with it. She sometimes shakes things up with photos of other dogs too. We wish we had half her talent!
