We decided to test our theory about Chester’s drive for adventure being more of a weiner dog trait then one of his “special, unique talents” (although we would rather believe that our little Chester is special).
We figured if we were going to test her ability, we might as well go for it all the way. For her first hike we headed up to Lake 22 for some snowshoeing. The trail is moderately steep with packed ice and snow most of the way this time of year.
As we started up the trail you could tell she wasn’t sure what was going on and it took her a bit to figure it out. Ten seconds later a light went on and I couldn’t hold her back.
The rest of the hike went the way the rest of them have gone since – with me huffing and puffing up the trail after her. She didn’t even blink when we got to the top where the snow was about a foot deep.
Theory tested. Apparently Chester isn’t quite as unique in the adventure department as we tell him he is. Well, we don’t want to hurt is ego so we certainly aren’t going to break it to him. Good thing he can’t read.
