After the somewhat disappointing hike to glass beach a few weeks ago I had decided it wasn’t worth the hike for what little bit of treasures we did find out there. With more thought and research my thoughts tended more towards “well, this is as good as it is going to get if you want to find your own beach glass”.
I am using beach glass to make boutonnieres for my wedding and thought that at least I could collect the clear glass myself and possibly make a big score and find a few big, blue pieces with some more persistence. I can supplement what I find with more blue pieces bought online. Also, I may give away little bags with a few of the smaller pieces of beach glass to guests as gifts.
The last weekend one of my best friends, and bridesmaid, who is living in China was in town for a visit. We were planning a hike with the dogs and with my renewed interest in making the three-mile beach hike to see what we could find we decided to go to glass beach.
I made her get up at 6 am and drug her to Port Townsend to help me dig beach glass for an hour. We did find some good stuff.
The dogs also really enjoyed hanging out on the beach in the sunshine.
This won’t be our last trip.
