Rattlesnake Ledge: An Actual View This Time!

In case you haven’t noticed, Rattlesnake Ledge is one of our favorite go-to hikes in the winter. The up side is that we are usually more out of shape in the winter and this one is easier and it is usually snow-free all or most of the way. The down side is that the views are amazing but you hardly ever get to see them in the winter because the weather sucks.

The last two times we have hiked the trail we got to the top only to see….nothing but a wall of clouds. By my recent photos you might think I have been lying about the views. I wanted to give you a little something to prove that I am not.

Last summer, before we got Gretel, we hiked to the top with Chester. It was a nice warm, clear sunny Washington day. When we got to the top, there it was – the amazing view we had been hoping for.

When we sat in the ledge for a while – eating our lunch and enjoying the beer we hiked up with us.

Yay for the beer ring (which was the first present I gave S….before we even started dating officially)

  1. You’re right! The view is spectacular!

I had to laugh about the beer ring! I found a place that sells dog collars last year that are made from recycled bike tires and have a bottle opener as pert of the buckle!

    1. We get a lot of stuff made out of recycled bike parts here in bike-crazy Seattle but I have not seen aything ALSO with a beer ring on it. Thats a new one for me.

  2. Absolutely stunning! Staring at the sheer beauty of nature never gets old. Sounds soooo cheesy, but so true for me!

P.S. How in the world did we ever cope without digital cameras?!

  3. I have been there on a few occasions and the view is stunning. I can’t wait to do this hike with Sienna and knowing that Chester (who is a bit older than Sienna) made it encourages me. Sienna is very bowlegged and has a gimpy walk due to ??? but I’ve walked about 4 miles with her…no problem. Pictures are beautiful!

    1. This hike is coming up in our Couch to Peak series. I am trying to get the rest of the hikes scheduled tonight. People seem to be pretty capable of handling the hikes so I think I am going to make our “summit” hike be Mount Si (the big one)
