Some of you may have heard about our exciting news over the weekend. For those of you who haven’t, this weekend was the first time our blog has gotten media coverage!
I know it may be small beans compared to some blogs but we were pretty excited. I had kept it pretty hush-hush until I actually saw it with my own eyes.
Last month at our Best Greenlake Weiner Walk Yet I stood up at the beginning and gave my announcements as usual. When I got done a woman approached me from the Seattle Times and asked for a little more information about our group and events.
I was in a hurry to catch up with the walkers and start taking photographs so I rattled off a few small tidbits and took her card. When I got home I emailed her asking a little bit more about what her interest was in this information and how she heard about us.
She said she just happened to be walking around the lake and saw the large group of weiner dogs. She explained that the Seattle Times was launching a pet blog in about a week and she wanted to post about our group and my blog. I sent her information and photos and waited.
Sunday I got an email from her saying that the post about us was published. The post included some photos of our group and a few sentences about our walk, the Seattle/Eastside Meetup Group and………our blog! Yipee 🙂
To my surprise when I got up this morning and checked the Seattle Times blog again, there was a second post titled Meetups Bring Seattle Dog Enthusiasts Together for Group Walks, Play Dates about using Meetup.com to find fun activities for you and your dog. We were listed three times in that post…..kind of.
The post listed dog Meetup groups in the Seattle area and three of the ten groups listed are co-organized, or organized, by me. They listed the Seattle/Eastside Group and the Seattle Active Dogs group that I co-organize and the Adventureweiner Club of Seattle group that I just started.
Meetup is a great way to get out, find new activities and meet new people. Meetup.com is a platform for people to organize whatever group strikes their fancy and is nationwide so you can search for groups around almost any City. You should check it out if you haven’t.
I want to continue to get the word out about how being active with your dog is important for both you and your pooch, encourage people to get out and have fun with their dogs and show them what great active companions Dachshunds can make.
Do you actively promote your blog or cause? How?

That’s very cool – both the article and the mass-weiner-dog-walks. That looks like a really fun idea.

It is a lot of fun. What kind of dog did you get?

Congrats! That’s awesome and very exciting 🙂

Thanks. It was exciting for us. Now back to the boring stuff……:)

Wow! How cool is that?? We need to check out that Meetup place, it seems hard to find people to meetup with here down south!

You should try Meetup and let me know how it works for you. I love it and it there are hundreds of groups in the Seattle area but I am curious if it works as well in other areas of the country.

Congratulations!!! What a great post and photos in the Seattle Times. Your meetup group is really taking off – pretty soon you’ll need to add an “advanced” hike. : )
adventureweiner says
Thanks. I know I have a lot of interest in hikes or all abilities.

Congratulations; you deserve it!
I don’t promote my blog. If I get media coverage, it won’t be the good sort.
adventureweiner says
Thanks. Why don’t you think it will be the good sort?? Your doggies might be troublemakers? Ha, ha

How cool!!! Congrats! And that’s a lot of wieners to take in that one picture 😉

Congrats! That is very exciting. I wish we have a wiener club near where we live. It would have been so nice for Emma to join a play date and exercise group.

Thanks. You could start your own 🙂
