Create a Calmer, More Fulfilling Life With Your Dachshund

Better behavior comes naturally when both of your needs are being met.

You love your Dachshund, but lately it feels like you’re spending more time managing behavior than enjoying life together.

Whether you’re dealing with barking, reactivity, pulling on walks, puppy challenges, or simply wondering why your Dachshund behaves the way they do, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by conflicting advice and endless training tips.

You don’t need another list of tricks to try.

You need to understand what’s really driving your Dachshund’s behavior so you can confidently decide what to do next.

That’s exactly what we’ll do together during your Behavior & Training Clarity Session. It’s where all clients begin before deciding whether additional support would be helpful.

Understand the problem; Decide what to do next.

  • Comprehensive pre-session behavior questionnaire
  • 70-minute one-on-one Zoom consultation
  • Expert review of your Dachshund’s history and daily routine
  • Personalized recommendations and prioritized next steps

Why My Approach Is Different

Most behavior advice starts by asking: “How do we stop this behavior?”

I start by asking: “Why is this behavior happening in the first place?”

Your Dachshund isn’t trying to make your life difficult. Every behavior is communication.

  • Sometimes your dog is missing an important life skill
  • Sometimes they’re overwhelmed or stressed
  • Sometimes a natural need isn’t being met
  • Sometimes the environment is simply asking too much of them

Until we understand the cause, it’s impossible to know which solution is most likely to work.

That’s why our first session isn’t about teaching a list of training exercises.

It’s about helping you understand your Dachshund, and identifying the biggest opportunities for improvement, so you leave with a clear direction instead of more confusion.

Whether that direction includes training, management, enrichment, lifestyle changes, or some combination of all four, you’ll know where to focus your time and energy first.

About Me

The whole picture includes the dog & human

One of my superpowers is condensing a lot of complicated information into simple, easy-to-understand terms. I was once told, “We’re pretty sure you could teach physics to a third-grader.”

I use this superpower to help Dachshund owners understand their dogs, meet the needs of both members of the partnership, and create a life they genuinely enjoy together.

I Help Owners With Challenges Like…

Living with behavior challenges is exhausting.

  • Maybe every walk feels stressful because you’re constantly watching for other dogs
  • Maybe visitors make you anxious because you know your Dachshund will bark the entire time
  • Maybe your puppy is turning your house upside down
  • Maybe you’ve tried everything you can think of and nothing seems to stick

Whatever brought you here, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

I regularly help Dachshund owners with:

  • Puppy foundations and early life skills
  • Excessive barking
  • Leash pulling
  • Reactivity toward dogs or people
  • Resource guarding
  • Multi-dog household relationships
  • Confidence building
  • Preparing dogs for hiking, travel, and public outings

If your challenge isn’t listed, feel free to ask. If it’s something I don’t specialize in, I’ll gladly point you toward someone who does.

Ready to stop guessing? Start with a Behavior & Training Clarity Session. It’s where all clients begin before deciding whether additional support would be helpful.

  • Why your Dachshund is behaving this way

  • Your best options for moving forward
  • Which training, management, enrichment, or lifestyle changes are likely to have the biggest impact
  • Expert review of your Dachshund’s history and daily routine
  • What to prioritize first

Continue With the Level of Support That’s Right for You

Some owners leave their Clarity Session with everything they need to confidently move forward on their own.

Others know they’ll make faster, easier progress with additional structure, accountability, or ongoing support.

There isn’t a right or wrong choice. It simply depends on how you like to learn, how much time you have available, and how much support you’d like along the way.

If you decide you’d like to continue working together after your Clarity Session, you can choose the option that best fits your needs.

FAQs

I focus on positive, science-based training methods. I am a believer in the LIFE (Least Inhibitive, Functionally Effective) and LIMA (Least Invasive Minimally Aversive) dog training principles. In simple terms, these principles are guides for humane, fair, and effective training and behavior modification practices.

Unlike most trainers, “least invasive” to me means that I take a holistic approach and dig into things like your dog’s background, current environment, enrichment opportunities, health, and diet with you before I even start discussing a training and behavior modification plan. Believe it or not, sometimes solving a behavior issue resolves itself without any training at all! (by addressing the underlying issues).

I’m a Licenced Family Dog Mediator (FMD), a Certified Canine Enrichment Technician (awaiting final approval of grades), and member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. I’ve been Dachshund sitter since 2014 and have experience with over 1,000 Dachshunds both in person and virtually.

In addition to my experience with animals, I’m also a Certified Life Coach (CLC), so I truly understand the human side of the equation too. I use compassion, empathy, and problem solving skills to find and teach the dog behavior solutions that fit in with your lifestyle as naturally as possible.

My continuing education includes:

My love problem solving, helping you and your dog communicate with each other better, and helping dogs achieve a higher level of training so they have access to a fuller life. I have experience with all of the common Dachshund behavior issues, and can work through almost all of the others with you (I will refer you to a trusted trainer if I don’t feel like I am the right person for your situation).

With that being said, I am especially passionate about raising a resilient dog that can handle any situation, the management and prevention of resource guarding, managing a household with intact male and female dogs, and maintaining peace and harmony in multi-dog households.
