Welcome to Adventurewiener Camp!

Dachshund Boarding, Training, & “Camp” in the Mountains of Central Washington

How your pup’s stay here is different here:

  • Customized care based on the total welfare model – considering each dog’s physical and mental health, plus more.
  • Careful management of dog interactions to ensure a positive experience
  • Daily enrichment activities, including a fully fenced yard to explore
  • After stay report with insight into (owner identified) behavior issues and training tips

My name is Jessica and I’ve been boarding Dachshunds in my home for over 10 years. I’m a Dachshund lover, sitter, trainer, expert, and I’d love to be your pup’s fun home away from home!

I’m not your average dog sitter – or, technically, dog boarder.

Here are a few of the things that make me different:

  • I only care for 1-2 (and very occasionally 3) Dachshunds at a time.
  • I supervise, engage with, and love on your dog as close to 24-7 as possible.
  • I’ve spent over 100 hours learning about dog body language, dog interactions, behavior, and training.
  • I have over 15 hours of pet first aid training, including handling emergencies when you’re not close to a veterinarian.
  • I have experience caring for IVDD dogs in recovery, including providing home laser treatments, preforming rehab exercises, and I am comfortable expressing bladder/bowels.
  • I specialize in long-term stays. (some clients have stayed with me for up to 8 weeks at a time!)
  • I’m the founder of YouDidWhatWithYourWiener, an online educational resource for Dachshund owners, and I’ve been studying the Dachshund breed full-time for over 10 years.
  • Unless requested otherwise, I will send you a daily update(s) with a photo(s) or video(s).
  • I observe your dog’s behavior and needs in an unfamiliar setting. At the end of your dog’s stay, you receive a 15-minute minimum consult about your dog’s behavior, additional potential needs, and training tips.
  • I carry daycare and boarding insurance through Pet Care Insurance (policy #JN1225-PCI105809).

Each day is a bit different at our house since I work from home and focus on each dog’s needs in the moment. Sometimes, the day I had planned is not the way it turns out, but I pride myself in my flexibility.

A Typical Day at Adventurewiener Camp

  • 530 or 6 am: Rise and shine! Morning potty break; The weenies do what they choose before breakfast or I do mat/place training in the kitchen while I make my breakfast and coffee.
  • 730 or 8 am: The weenies eat breakfast and get a potty break; Water bowls are freshened up.
  • 8 to 1130 am: The weenies chill/sleep while I am working
  • 1130 am to 1230 pm: Potty break, enrichment activities (play/interaction, walks, or other seasonal outdoor activities – like hanging in the porch tent in summer).
  • 1230 pm to 330 pm: The weenies get a natural chew or treat toy then chill/sleep while I work. When the weather is nice, the back door stays open so they can explore and play outside if they want.
  • 330 pm to 430 pm: Free time around the house, walks, or field trips to new sniff areas.
  • 430 pm to 730 pm: Dogs dinner and potty break; dogs have free time around the house (or outside, weather dependent) while I do “chores” or clean; enrichment activities.
  • 730 pm to 9 pm: Couch time! Or wherever they choose to lay. Typically, the weenies all pile on the couch with me and snuggle while I watch TV.
  • 930 pm or 10 pm: Nite nite time! We go to sleep in the “big bed” (or wherever your dog normally sleeps at home).

If we’re not at home, we’re traveling or camping (only with your permission). During those times, your dog will be busy seeing and sniffing new places, walking or playing outside as much as possible, watching the world go by from the park or car (when driving from place to place), and gaining new experiences that can help with emotional resillience.

My Certifications

I aim to set myself apart from other dog sitters. Over the last few years, I have taken a deep dive into dog behavior, training, enrichment, and welfare (as animals dependent on our care).

In 2024, I completed a 13-week canine behavior modification mentorship and because a Licensed Family Dog Mediator (LFDM). As a LFDM, I use the L.E.G.S. (Learning, Environment, Genetics, Self), and applied animal total welfare, models to help me understand your Dachshund’s behavior and mediate conflicts between dogs and their families.

In 2025, I formalized what I had been practicing with my Dachshunds for over 20 years by becoming a Canine Enrichment Specialist. During your doxie’s stay, I tailor activities for your pup to help them exercise their mind, emotionally cope with being in a different house with a different person, and relieve stress.

I also have extensive experience with pet first aid via over 10 hours of previous pet first aid training, my experience growing up on an urban farm, and handling emergencies with my own dogs while hiking and camping.
