Chester accompanied me on a solo (lone human), overnight snowshoe trip up to Skyline Divide near Mount Baker. Once at the top we wandered around on snow fields for a few hours waiting to photograph Mount Baker at sunset.
The trail was not well-marked or easy to see in the snow. We didn’t see another human or doggie the whole trip.
To be honest, I ended up lost and would have given up if Chester hadn’t kept sniffing around. Every time my self-preservation kicked in and I thought of turning back Chester managed to sniff out a footprint.
Gasp – did you know they don’t make snowshoes for weiner dogs? I mean they make Doggles, rubber booties and Snuggies. It’s not that much of a stretch to imagine they would make snowshoes for them. Maybe it is because the doggie product people know they do just fine in the snow on their own.
